How to cook a soft-boiled egg

Something that I used to be embarrassed to tell people is that I didn't know how to cook a soft boiled egg before last year. I didn't realize how easy it was. You just boil some water, making sure there is enough to cover the top of the egg. Then you gently lay the egg in the water and set a timer for 6 mins. You can go from 6 to 7 minutes. I prefer 6 minutes for a runny yolk. Then, you can put it in an ice bath or run it under cold water. I like to tap the big end and start there to work my way around peeling the whole thing. There's a lot of different ways to peel eggs and you can find them online. Just find whichever way is easiest for you. One of my favorite things to do is to slice into an egg because, even though it's a small accomplishment, it's cool to see when you didn't completely mess something up in the kitchen. And, that's really it. I can't believe it took me so long to learn. You can add this to your ramen or add salt and pepper for a quick snack. Also, now I don't mind telling people I didn't know how to cook an egg because it reminds me of how much there is still to learn. How do you like your eggs?
